WHY I STOPPED WASTING MONEY ON PRIMERS

3:16 PM

Hey everyone! Today I'm very excited to be sharing with you the one and only reason
as to why I completely stopped spending money on makeup primers.
I used to be really into trying new face primers in order to find the ultimate one,
and some came pretty close to that title but something was always missing.

That is until one day I decided on a whim to try a certain beauty world trend
that is common among youtube and instagram beauty gurus.

Using Nivea Men's Sensitive Post Shave Balm as a face primer!

Why should you use it?

The second most common ingredient in Nivea's shave balm is Glycerin.
Glycerin is known for its ability to make things stick to it.

That is why when you apply foundation and other makeup over it,
the makeup sticks to it and as a result doesn't budge throughout the day.

What was my first experience?

After I applied a layer of the balm on my skin, I made sure to let it set for at least 5 minutes.
That way it was all nicely absorbed into the skin and left a clean canvas to work on,
and that is the most important part when wearing it.

Then I applied my regular face makeup and went on with my day.
It had a slight cosmetic scent, some say "manly" haha,
but it was subtle and went away after a couple of minutes,
so it did not bother me. In fact, I quite liked it.

Final verdict after a month of use

Ever since I first tried it, I literally put it every single day I wear makeup!
I found that it made my makeup stay in place and not slide or budge at all.

I have a very oily skin and the balm helped to elongate the time my face stayed matte.
My t-zone used to get oily after only 2 hours wearing makeup, now it lasts for at least 4 hours.

When I do start getting oily, it is in a much slower rate than I used to.
Also, overall my face makeup looks smoother and more blended.

I would definitely rate this product as a solid 10/10!

I would highly suggest everyone to try this product, regardless of your skin type.
I rarely use this description, but this Nivea shave balm is truly life changing!

    1. I haven't used it together with a different primer, but I think it would still work great seeing as it makes any makeup product "stick" to it.
I would definitely try to combine it! Thanks (:

  11. I bought this a little while ago and loved it. I'm so glad that I've tried it, although I do still use my other primers as they're more makeup bag friendly space wise!!

  13. I have heard a lot about this, I need to give it go. I have not used primer until recently when I got a tiny sample of Too faced hangover and it was amazing and all but it broke me out :| :| So I'm so scared to use primers now.

    1. I feel ya, some products really break me out too, for no apparent reason.
This shave balm is designed to eliminate bumps and pimples of guys after they shave, so I think it would work in the same way for girls' skin (even though we don't shave before applying it hahaha).
Anyways, I think you should give it a try. If it's not for you- at least it's pretty cheap so you don't loose lots of money :D
